re-wrap is a community interest company (CIC)

We have taken the next exciting step in our journey by officially becoming a Community Interest Company (UK CIC), a business model that locks in community benefit.

While re-wrap has supported nonprofits in both India and the UK over the last twenty years, becoming a CIC means financial giving is now built into the structure of our business and reinforces our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate.

CIC Benefits

A CIC is a regulated structure for organisations that
operate for public benefit. It combines commercial activity with a legally protected social purpose. This means:

Our business model locks in community benefit

The company is overseen by the UK CIC Regulator

Down the road from our London office in Shoreditch, Fat Macy's supports people to move from temporary accommodation into permanent housing. They offer culinary and hospitality training, one-to-one support, and access to rental deposits.

Fat Macy’s grant is invested in building the internal capacity of their work experience programme, aimed at those experiencing homelessness. Their goal is to create more opportunities for beneficiaries to earn and thrive independently. 80% of their beneficiaries find employment or education following the programme, and 60% are resettled within a year of the program.

Food Behind Bars logo

Food Behind Bars

Food Behind Bars works with prisons in the UK, using food as a tool for change to positively impact the lives of prisoners. Their interventions include skilling programmes for prison catering teams, and food education and kitchen garden programmes for prisoners.

Our 2025 grant supports their Prison Food Programme, which trains prison catering teams and prisoners to deliver nutritious and high impact meals on tight budgets. Improved nutrition in prisons has been linked to improvements in prison safety and prisoners’ mental and physical health, reducing their rate of reoffending.

Hasiru Dala Logo

Hasiru Dala

Hasiru Dala champions waste pickers in India, a critical but largely invisible community. Their holistic approach provides identity cards, social security, healthcare, housing, and education for children, transforming waste pickers into recognised professionals while building sustainable waste management systems.

This 2025 grant provides financial and technical support for Hasiru Dala’s Textile Recovery Facilities, where waste entrepreneurs aggregate and process hundreds of tonnes of textile waste each year. This not only keeps textile waste out of landfills in India, but also creates sustainable and safe livelihood opportunities for wastepickers, while increasing their income.
